My interest in herbs began many, many years ago. It probably started when I was a child,listening to my grandmother’s remedies for simple ailments. As I grew up, I treated grandma’s stories as old-wives tales. Then I read about some of the herbs and spices I used in cooking that were also used medicinally. That started me wondering if these cooking herbs were good for certain conditions what else was out there. My husband, who has always believed in the healing properties of herbs, was my head gardener and a willing guinea pig, as were my daughters and now my granddaughter and grandson.
I bought and read every book I could get my hands on, listened to old-timers and collected fascinating information from people from other countries. Several people I talked with had miracle stories to relate, how their doctors couldn’t cure or ease some complaint or other but the herbs did. I found out about all kinds of wonderful, little known herbs from all over the world. Herbs had become my obsession!
I have since investigated all kinds of natural therapies, aromatherapy, herbalism and homeopathy, to name a few. However my main area of expertise is of course my herbs. I’ve gotten into herbal astrology and tarot, made my own natural incenses and potpourris, I love growing herbs and have been known to spend hours in the garden tending and petting them. Ahhh! The heavenly aroma they release!
Hundreds of books, lots of trial and error, many experiments and many courses later, here I am sharing with you, my knowledge and my love of the lowly herb.
