Merry meet, and RaInBoW Hugs, I'm Starshyne, one of the many eclectic pagans you'll meet online, at Rainbow Gatherings, pagan festivals, or enjoying some activity outdoors. I dislike labels although I can also appreciate their use at times so here's mine: Pagan/ Rainbow Family/ SCA/ deadhead / disabled/ artist/ CFGer/ all around eclectic. :)

I'm fairly new to the undernet, and the wide world of webbing, since July 1995 in fact. Since discovering it, my life has changed in some of the coolest ways. I have made undernet's #wicca and Oddessey my online homes away from home. I am still a 'toddler' witch, and have yet to find the direction of my beliefs, the closest I've come to is somewhere between Discordian, Native 'Mercan (mostly Hopi) and Norse beliefs. I often seek the guidance from as well as try to help my housemates, friends, and anyone else needing help both on and off the computer. :)

Like most folks I've history, interests, and groups I'm involved with. I believe humor and sarcasm help relieve the stresses life loves to throw at us. This at times causes some to think I'm ignorant of how rough life can be, or that I some how need protection from harsh or offensive issues to which I bap the lot :P I've been beaten, raped, shot at, stabbed, hit over the head, tied up, choked, homeless, escaped a burning apartment, and survived a bad car accident, just to list a few things that's happened to me since age 14. Believe me I'm not fragile nor "need" protection, although I do prefer to seek out the positive rather then sit around whimpering woo is me and I can't stand liars. I sometimes play with words some of which may or may not confuse a few, so I wrote up What does Starshyne mean?

History:
I was born into a moderately liberal family in the early sixties, followed by two brothers. We moved to the countryside in northeast Illinois, where space was plentiful, and open minded folks few, in hopes of getting away from the noise and troubles of city life. With my parents discovering science fiction fandom in the early seventies, I spent my time learning more from my parents and their friends' lifestyles than from anything by my peers, whom at the time I always seemed at odds with...hence my need for finding my 'true nature' as my
mom liked to call it, and my since of humor I get from my dad. I had found myself with a natural empathic ability, that I soon learned to quell after finding this was not 'normal', causing me to lose what I hold dear, contact with other folks. After some time of trying to 'get away' I erringly joined the US Army, thinking this would solve things for me and soon realizing it wasn't for me, I started moving from state to state.

I moved here to Cincinnati, OH where I fell in love with the hills and trees and decided it was more central for being near friends, going to science fiction conventions, and going camping. I met my Sunlion, and we soon moved in together, and we married. We've had the usual ups and downs; including an auto accident I was involved in caused by a drunk driver, I was left differently abled (aka permanently disabled). We started going to Rainbow Family gatherings, where I learned part of my belief of protecting Mother Earth. We both discovered our paths, and of course things have changed in ways we had no imagination of.

We have since moved into a house with some other pagan friends and call our new home 'Rainbow Holt' which has also changed things in many ways. Although the Holt has changed (Rainbow Holt's History) in regards as to who all lives within it, it still remains very much who we are and now includes several 'sub' Holts throughout the country. Rainbow Holt is made up of ourselves, our children, Lion Heart and Shadow. We hope to have additions to our household of family/friends again whenever we can afford to rent another house again. All of us here are practicing solitary, although we do many workings together.

Though some of my family members, are what you can say 'disappointed' in my choices...my parents remained open minded, and often were interested in learning what I know, even when they divorced; they both have since passed away. They were definitely proud that the ideals they have taught me, had led me to grow and love nature. To them it wasn't important that I believe in a religion, but that I believe in something that brings joy to my life. So it was natural for me, when the time was right, to discover where my path was leading and that Mother Earth and Father Sun have always been there.

Interests:
When not on the net, I enjoy listening to tapes of
music I love, going to the occasional Science Fiction convention, or CFG meeting, or SCA meeting, or Rainbow Family Gathering, building and creating vrml objects, making clay incense burners, jewelry, and other assorted crafts, computer graphics, reading, camping trips, in general hanging out with friends. I am always seeking others like me...so email me!

Groups I'm involved with:
I like to stay busy and help folks when and where I can, sometimes this involves working with or supporting groups such as:

ACM Siggraph: an organization that promotes the generation and dissemination of information on computer graphics and interactive techniques.

Dry Dredgers: The Dry Dredgers is an association of amateur geologists dedicated to the knowledge and enjoyment of fossils. The association was founded in 1942 and continues to bring together those interested in the life of prehistoric times. Its aim is to stimulate interest in geology, to encourage the collection and identification of fossils, and to participate in field trips and exhibitions. The club is affiliated with the University of Cincinnati Geology Department , and annually awards the Paul Sanders Award to support the study of paleontology.

Rainbow Holt: an organization for the research and education of holistic medicine, as well as teaching basic computer knowledge to teens.

Rising Sun: an support group helping "troubled" teens through group effort as well as individual self aid, helping them learn how help the planet, or to use a computer, or anything else in a constructive way. These 'kids' may be a bit 'different' or not 'mainstream' but they too can and often do move on to do some very cool things whether big or small which helps them see even they can shrug off some of societies labels.

Rogue Worldbuilders Guild : a group that helps one another learn and teach. To share any learning information we have with one another from vrml, tips, tools, to vrml projects. It is not our mission to tell you what to build, to hand out titles, etc. Some of us may not have a world builder title in CT nor want it, but that doesn't mean we aren't world builders. We are here to have fun.
