Yawn, stretch, turn, toss, thoughts going round and round, ah the joys of sleeping yet not sleeping...not! Yes, it is true, even a night owl like me has had trouble getting to sleep now and then. Now before you reach for that over the counter sleep-aid, such as Melatonin, you may want to try this visualization method that my husband, SunLion, has taught me. First, make yourself comfortable on your bed. You can lie any ol' way you feel is best as long as you can reach your face with your hands. Take a few quick breaths, then slow ones until your breathing is normal again. Now think of yourself sitting in a movie theater. You are sitting up close to the screen, and on the screen is all the different things that have happened throughout the day, include anything you may have thought about. It is all moving along quickly from the right to the left side of the screen, and starts slowing down every now and then. As this is moving on the screen this would be a good time to lightly rub your face with the tips of your fingers, move them across your face in little circles, until the screen slows down and then goes blank as you finish. Now you find yourself outside in the woods. The birds are singing just how you like them to. There are various numbers of animals that you like to see. You walk down the foot trail in front of you until you see the little pond, sitting there nestled among the trees. You sit down on the bank, feeling the warm sun on your back. As you look on the pond you can see the clouds slowly drift across it's surface. You see a cloud that would be perfect to drift on and climb onto it and settle down to rest. The cloud just happens to be your favorite color. As soon as your head is laying down, your cloud and you slowly lift upwards and drifts slowly into space. The stars are above you moving slow. You take deep but slow breaths. Sweet Dreams and RaInBoW Hugs Starshyne Return to Articles Starshyne updated last 9/23/01 |
